The Beauty Myth: Stop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A short time ago, I was speaking with teachers and psychologists working in the school system. They told me they were appalled by the hypersexualized clothing worn by very young girls and felt powerless to respond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the one hand, they don\u2019t want to impose any injunctions; on the other hand, they observe that the young girls are lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Idea: Individually or in small groups, collect everyday images over a limited period of time. After a month, study these images and analyze the messages they convey, and identify if\/how young people who view them are affected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beauty Myth: Ressources<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A study along these lines was conducted in 1990 by Naomi Wolf in a book titled The Beauty Myth. Read it, study it, bring it up to date, and apply its methods to your own context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
