Experience

Choralyne Dumesnil holds a doctorate in private law and is admitted to the Paris Bas association and the California State Bar.

She trained at the Institute of Political Studies in Paris and studied at Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Harvard Law School.

During her studies in intellectual property law, she became involved with specialized organizations to combat violence against children (Commission for the Abolition of Sexual Mutilation, reinstated in 1982 by Linda Weil-Curiel)e and to promote gender equality (Agency for the Development of Intercultural Relations for Citizenship, led by Chahla Chafiq).

At Harvard Law School, she was inspired by the teachings of Professor and attorney Catharine A. MacKinnon on Sex Equality and those of Professor and attorney Diane Rosenfeld on Theories of Sexual Coercion. She designed and taught a course on the judicial treatment of sexual violence in the World (2015–2018) at Paris Sciences & Lettres University. Additionally, she mentored students on related topics within the legal clinic at the Institute of Political Science in Paris.

She established her law firm in 2017 after gaining experience with industrial property attorneys (Regimbeau, Olivier Nicolle), intellectual property law firms (UGGC, Gide, Veron & Associés, August & Debouzy), and judges of the 3rd chamber of the Paris Tribunal.

In California, Choralyne Dumesnil worked in IP related matters with Me Béatrice Martinet, partner at Sideman & Bancroft, with Diane Morin in international private law and with professor Catharine A. MacKinnon in sex equality related matters.

In 2020, she joined the nonprofit law firm Open Door Legal, where she supported the team handling protection order requests. She also collaborated with the Enough Network of the Equal Rights Advocates (ERA), which addresses sexual harassment in universities.

Since 2025, the firm is located 13 rue la Boétie, 75008 Paris.

Choralyne Dumesnil is general secretary of the NGO Association française des femmes juristes (AFFJ). 

Choralyne Dumesnil regularly contributes to the TV documentary dedicated to the French legal system on channel 2 (french national channel).
