The Workshops of Freedom: Resources to Fight Violence Against Girls – Identification

Girls suffer from numerous forms of violence from a very young age simply because they are girls.

I recently found myself in front of a small group of young women who briefly explained the numerous sexual assaults they have endured from a very young age. A forced kiss is not just a little peck, it is a sexual assault. Looking under girls’ skirts is not curiosity, it is voyeurism.

Identify and Act in Your Own Way

Idea: Individually or in small groups, identify all the aggressions committed against you.

  1. Identify how the penal code names this type of act (we are not at the stage of filing a complaint or providing evidence, initial question: what is what you have experienced called legally).
  2. Identify the conscious or unconscious strategies you have put in place to cope.
  3. Identify what was offered to protect you (someone recently brought up the old idea of cyclist shorts under dresses and skirts… well, that’s not what prevented sexual assaults).
  4. Once the picture is drawn… what do you wish to do with it?
